Algerian Diplomacy in Action: Lounes Magramane on European Tour for Political Consultations

Lounes Magramane, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, is in full diplomatic turmoil. Since Monday, he has been traveling through three European countries to hold highly important bilateral political consultations. This tour, whose impact could be considerable on Algeria’s international relations, is the subject of sustained attention.

Belgium: A Crucial Step
The first stage of this diplomatic tour took him to Belgium, where he co-chaired with the interim president of the Steering Committee of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Théodore Gentzis, the 4th session of bilateral political consultations between Algeria and Belgium.

From the first exchanges, it was clear that these two countries maintained relations of rare authenticity. Bilateral cooperation was at the center of the discussions, and action plans were outlined to further strengthen this collaboration in several areas of common interest. This is a significant step towards achieving a qualitative leap in ties between the two nations.

In addition, the meeting was an opportunity for the Algerian and Belgian delegations to discuss international and regional issues of capital importance. The common positions turned out to be surprisingly similar, particularly with regard to the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, the need for a permanent ceasefire in the Palestinian territories, and the importance of international efforts to guarantee Palestinian people their legitimate rights and the creation of an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.

Belgium and Algeria: Two Countries, Strong Cooperation
The meeting between Magramane and the Belgian Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration, Nicole de Moor, confirmed the solidity of cooperation between Algeria and Belgium. Both sides welcomed the prospects of strengthening their ties, which are guided by the mutual interests of their respective countries.

The tour was all the more significant as it coincided with the 63rd anniversary of the demonstrations of December 11, 1960. Lounes Magramane took part in a reception organized by the Consulate General of Algeria in Brussels, in honor of the members of the Algerian national community established in Belgium and Luxembourg. This celebration recalled the historical importance of this date in the context of the Algerian National Revolution. She also underlined the continued commitment of the Algerian authorities to preserving the interests of the national community abroad, in accordance with the objectives of the government and the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

A Giant Step for Algerian Diplomacy
This diplomatic tour by Lounes Magramane testifies to Algeria’s firm commitment to its international relations. In this period of profound geopolitical upheaval, Algeria is positioning itself as a key player in the region.

The fruitful discussions with Belgium and the converging positions on crucial global issues demonstrate Algeria’s willingness to play an active role in resolving global issues. This tour could also open the door to future collaborations and initiatives that will benefit Algeria and its international partners.

It is undeniable that Algeria, under the leadership of its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, strives to strengthen its relations with the nations of the world and contribute to the promotion of international peace and justice. As Lounes Magramane continues his European tour, the world has its eyes on Algeria, awaiting the next diplomatic developments. Algerian diplomacy is in action, and the world is watching it with interest.
