Diplomacy/Arrest of two Ivorian gendarmes in Burkina Faso: “We will continue to dialogue” (Government)

Ivory Coast has chosen the path of dialogue and consultation with the authorities of Burkina Faso to obtain the release of its two gendarmes arrested in this country for several months, said Wednesday, May 22, 2024 in Abidjan, Amadou Coulibaly, the spokesperson for the Ivorian government following a council of ministers.

“There is a framework for exchanges. Côte d’Ivoire has chosen the path of dialogue and consultation. We will continue to discuss and engage in dialogue.

Dialogue is the only solution to avoid crises which can have unfortunate consequences,” said Mr. Coulibaly, who is also the Minister of Communication.

“Everything will be done around discussion and negotiation. A framework exists and within this framework, we are convinced that a solution will be found for our two gendarmes” hoped the spokesperson for the Ivorian executive at the end of the this government meeting which was chaired by Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara.
