Recently, Former MEP Pier Antonio Panzeri’s lawyers have responded to an investigator’s comments on the development that the key suspect turned informer was lying in the Qatarargate case.
Lawyers Laurent Kennes and Marc Uyttendaele expressed they were “appalled by the bias of this investigator and by the scope of his statements”. In their view, these statements”show major hostility” not only towards their client, “but also towards the country’s judicial and political authorities”. These remarks from the lawyers expose the Belgian authorities and investigators who are confused and flawed, and they do not have a clue about the case.
These developments suggest a media lynching by investigators in the case, given their existing controversies. Moreover, the investigating judge and the federal prosecutor’s office are not taking any action regarding this matter.
Since the beginning of the case, the judicial authorities have not taken any steps to question the main culprits, including the Belgian authorities and the secret services who allegedly planted and staged the scandal.
The main question and concern arise regarding the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office. While they have acknowledged receipt of the document, the extent of their interest in the case and potential delays in delivering justice remain uncertain.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office also stated that proceedings were underway before the Brussels Chamber of Indictments to examine “the legality of a certain number of investigative acts.” However, more than a year has passed, and there has been no significant advancement by Belgian authorities in the case. The investigation appears flawed, and it raises concerns about the involvement of the Belgian judiciary and police.
Another point of tension in the investigation is the resignation of Judge Michel Claise, who was controversial. However, it was later revealed that he was not honest with the case. The initial proceedings and arrests were made based on his orders. This indicates that the foundation of the whole case is riddled with flaws and errors within the judiciary and Belgian police, who seemingly strived to create the staged scandal.
