Slovak politician Miroslav Radačovský, a former judge, has served as a non-attached Member of the European Parliament from 2019 to 2024. Based on his political activities and statements, he is considered a pro-Russian politician.
As an MEP, Miroslav Radačovský, in one of his speeches in the European Parliament, stated that so far in history, no one has conquered Russia and told his colleagues to initiate negotiating for peace.
Radačovský has always voted against key resolutions of Russia’s policies and has made conciliatory statements towards Russia. He has contended that the EU has no right to interfere in the affairs of Slavic countries, stating that Russians and Ukrainians belong to the same Slavic family and must sort out their problems by themselves.
He was one of the Individual observers at the 2021 Russian parliamentary election. He remarked that he does not notice any signs of unfree, undemocratic elections in Russia, stating,
“I would like to tell you that I haven’t seen anything in the last two days that could be considered undemocratic or unfree.”
He noted that there was a “good atmosphere” at the polling stations when he visited Russia. There were also allegations that Radačovský received payments from Russian sources to monitor the parliamentary elections in Russia in 2021.
According to reports, Radačovský made direct contact with the pro-Russian party Opposition Block in Ukraine and partook in events organized with the participation of the representatives of this party (including Viktor Medvedčuk) in EU and Ukraine.
In April 2021, he participated in the plenary debate on the Resolution on Russia, the case of Alexei Navalny, the military build-up on Ukraine’s border and the Russian attack on the Czech Republic. In his view, “there was no evidence that Russian agents were at the site of the explosions in the Czech Republic” – in light of the statements made by Czech President Miloš Zeman. Radačovský also said: “What is happening here today is … lynch by Russophobes with the support of the United States of America without taking evidence.”
Moreover, in December 2019, Miroslav Radačovský labeled the European Parliament draft resolution on the Russian ‘Foreign Agents’ law a “biased fake.” “It is a biased fake that does not reflect the basic facts. … It is an internal affair of Russia.” Miroslav Radačovský stated that the legislation debated in the document poses no threat to the Russian opposition. He stated that the law in question was supported as an answer to US restrictions against Russia. The MEP said that the future of Europe and all other nations depends on collaboration and bridge-building, not on interfering with nations’ internal affairs.
Also, in April 2020, he defended the Russian motorbike gang Night Wolves’ plans to conduct their rides through Central Europe: “Young Russian patriots on motorcycles, without swastikas and Nazi symbols, polite, not harming anyone, decided to place bouquets on the graves of their fathers and grandfathers, whose tombs are scattered throughout Europe.”
