Tensions rise in the West Bank: French sanctions spark outcry from Israeli settlers

The noose is tightening around Israel, precisely in the West Bank. After the United States and England, France has just adopted sanctions against “twenty-eight extremist Israeli settlers”.

This group is accused of having committed abuses against Palestinian civilians in the West Bank. As a result, these Israelis are prohibited from entering France. Palestine speaks of a half-measure decision while Tel Aviv deplores an interference which does not speak its name. Israeli settlements are often at the heart of numerous accusations, escaping any control of the Jewish state. During the day on Wednesday, London also positioned itself with sanctions against four Israeli “extremist settlers” who “violently attacked” Palestinians in the West Bank.

Comforted by all these condemnations in the West, Palestine wants to involve the European Union in this fight against Palestinian citizens who suffer acts of violence in Israel. On the issue, Palestine appeals to the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell with an official request. Benjamin Netanyahu, his Ministers of Defense Yoav Gallant, Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer, National Security Itamar Ben Gvir, and Finance Bezalel Smotrich are singled out for “their involvement in crimes and serious violations of human rights”. Israel says it is outraged by the behavior of its allies, French and British, who are embarking on a process of open interference.
