The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the security forces had intervened to disperse the demonstrators who had chosen the sidewalk in front of the headquarters of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as a place of sit-in, following the asks representatives of this institution.

In a statement dated April 12, 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that UNHCR representatives contacted the police to inform them of an intrusion into the premises of the UN agency. The Ministry of the Interior affirmed this version in a press release dated April 11, 2023. It indicated that three metal doors had been torn down and that individuals armed with stones and sticks had stormed the UNHCR premises. Employees have been harassed and threatened.
