Advertising Information Group

The Advertising Information Group (AIG) is a Brussels-based European tripartite advertising and media industry network that gathers representatives from advertisers, advertising agencies, broadcasters, publishers, direct marketing, radio, and online sectors. Founded in 2011, AIG acts as a collective voice promoting fair and balanced legal frameworks for the advertising industry across the European Union. It operates as a network formed by three core national advertising bodies: the Advertising Association (AA) in the UK, the Zentralverband der deutschen Werbewirtschaft (ZAW) in Germany, and the Wirtschaftskammer Österreich (WKO) in Austria.

AIG’s mission centers on fostering a genuine single market in commercial communications and supporting responsible advertising self-regulation in Europe, underpinned by its membership in the European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA). The group regularly engages in EU policy advocacy on key legislative proposals such as the e-Privacy Regulation, Digital Services Act, Artificial Intelligence Act, consumer protection reforms, and political advertising rules.

The Group holds frequent discussion forums in Brussels where policymakers, industry leaders, and other stakeholders convene to discuss pressing issues affecting the advertising ecosystem. Additionally, AIG publishes a bi-weekly newsletter, E-News, which provides in-depth analysis and updates on legislative and political developments related to commercial communications in the EU.

The secretariat of AIG is managed by the combined efforts of the three national associations acting as members. Together, they coordinate industry-wide actions, including outreach and policy monitoring across multiple interest areas such as competition, digital economy, public health, media, consumers, and justice.

AIG’s activities emphasize the importance of advertising self-regulation as a mechanism to maintain high standards while ensuring a competitive and transparent advertising market. Through its work, AIG represents a broad spectrum of the European advertising sector and aims to promote policies that balance innovation with responsible advertising practices in line with EU values and consumer rights.
