Europacable is a Brussels-based non-profit association founded in 1991 that represents the leading European wire and cable producers, including both global technology leaders and specialized small and medium-sized enterprises. Its members collectively employ over 80,000 people worldwide, with more than half based in Europe, generating a turnover exceeding €80 billion as of 2022. The organization advocates for the interests of the wire and cable industry in EU policy debates, focusing on sectors critical to Europe’s electrification and digitalization, such as energy, telecommunications, industry, and sustainability.
Europacable’s lobbying efforts target key EU legislative files including the Green Deal (covering CBAM, ESPR, Taxonomy, Industrial Emissions, Right to Repair, REACH, RoHS, WEEE), energy policy (EU Action Plan on Grids, renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, National Energy & Climate Plans), telecommunications infrastructure (Gigabit Infrastructure Act, Telecoms Code, 5G Networks), building infrastructure regulations (CPR, EPBD), and industrial policy (Green Industrial Plan, NZIA, competition policy). The organization is committed to transparency and compliance with EU competition rules.
Governed by an Executive Board elected by its membership, Europacable is actively engaged in standardization processes and technical committees, including a special interest group on Medium Voltage Accessories. It is a member of several European industry networks such as EuroFSA, FEEDS, Orgalim, RGI, WindEurope, and partners with CENELEC and EUEW. Europacable aims to be a trusted source of technical information and to raise the visibility of the European cable and wire industry, which it positions as essential to achieving Europe’s climate neutrality goals by 2050.
The organization maintains a permanent office in Brussels and has consistently participated in high-level meetings with EU institutions to influence policy and regulatory frameworks affecting its industry. Europacable’s lobbying activities are supported by a team of accredited lobbyists who engage with the European Parliament, Commission, and Council on relevant dossiers.
