European General Galvanizers Association

European General Galvanizers Association

The European General Galvanizers Association (EGGA) is the principal industry organization representing Europe’s general galvanizing sector. Established as a federation, EGGA brings together the national galvanizers associations from most European Union Member States, as well as the United Kingdom, Norway, and Turkey. Collectively, these associations represent approximately 600 general galvanizing plants, predominantly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which employ an estimated 40,000 people across Europe.

EGGA’s core mission is to monitor, respond to, and influence issues affecting the general galvanizing industry, with a particular focus on environmental, technical, and regulatory matters. The association acts as a central platform for coordinating marketing, technical, and sustainability initiatives, ensuring that the interests of its members are effectively represented at the European level. EGGA is actively engaged in the development and implementation of EU policies and regulations that impact the galvanizing sector, such as the Construction Products Regulation, Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, Net Zero Industry Act, Water Framework Directive, Industrial Emissions Directive, REACH, and policies related to the sustainable use of natural resources and the circular economy.

Operating with a small full-time staff, EGGA is supported by specialist consultants and the resources of its member national associations. The association is headquartered in the United Kingdom, with an EU office in Brussels, Belgium, reflecting its commitment to maintaining a strong presence at the heart of EU policymaking.

EGGA’s approach to lobbying is characterized by transparency and collaboration. The association is registered with the EU Transparency Register (ID: 634416015579-93) and adheres to the highest standards of conduct in its interactions with EU institutions. EGGA’s activities include participation in expert groups, submission of position papers, and engagement in public consultations, all aimed at ensuring that the voice of the galvanizing industry is heard in the formulation of EU policies.

Through its extensive network, EGGA collaborates with a range of affiliated organizations and industry alliances, further amplifying its influence and reach. The association’s commitment to sustainability and innovation positions it as a key stakeholder in the ongoing transformation of Europe’s industrial landscape.
