IOEMA Fibre Limited is a relatively new lobbying firm established in February 2023. It is the project company behind the IOEMA submarine fibre optic cable system, a state-of-the-art high-capacity data backbone designed for critical digital connectivity across Northern Europe. The IOEMA system spans approximately 1400 km and connects key northern European countries including the UK, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, and Norway. It supports vital infrastructure security with full armoring and burial, featuring a 48-fibre pair system that provides a minimum overall capacity of 1.3 petabits per second. The project addresses growing data demand and redundancy needs in the Nordics, linking with transatlantic cables and serving as a critical European digital artery.
Launched publicly in May 2024 at the Submarine Networks EMEA Conference in London, IOEMA Fibre Ltd. works closely with multiple landing partners such as Bulk Fibre Networks (Norway), Arelion (Denmark), EWE TEL/Relined Fiber Network (Germany), Eurofiber/QTS (Netherlands), and Colt Technology Services (UK). These affiliations facilitate IOEMA’s integration into existing digital infrastructure and data centers, enhancing both regional and international connectivity.
Though primarily a fibre infrastructure project, IOEMA Fibre Limited’s registration with the EU Transparency Register reflects its active lobbying to influence EU digital infrastructure and connectivity policies. The company is a micro-sized entity based in the UK with a focus on advancing connectivity solutions vital to digital infrastructure security and capacity in the EU and Northern Europe.
