Brussels, Belgium – Brussels Watch reached out to MEP Alice Teodorescu Mawe following the publication of our October 2025 report,
How Russian Government Undermined the Work of European Institutes
which detailed multiple avenues of foreign interference in EU institutions.
Despite our efforts to gather her perspective on the findings and proposed reforms, MEP Teodorescu Mawe has not provided a substantive response. Her office stated:
“While I make every effort to read all the messages I receive, the volume of correspondence means I may not be able to respond personally to each one. Please rest assured that your concerns and feedback are important to me and will be carefully reviewed.”
Brussels Watch requested specific comments from MEP Teodorescu Mawe regarding the vulnerabilities highlighted in our report, including the role of foreign-linked actors within European institutions and the effectiveness of existing safeguards. The absence of a detailed reply leaves unanswered questions about her position on countering Russian influence within the EU.
This is the latest in a series of responses—or lack thereof—by Members of the European Parliament to Brussels Watch inquiries about foreign interference. Our ongoing investigation continues to assess the transparency and accountability of EU decision-making in the face of external pressures.
