Accompanied by a delegation, the ambassador of the European Union, Jean Marc Pisani, made a trip to Bambilor where he met the local caliph who said he was happy to welcome him: “I am looking for the words to deliver them to you. I am overwhelmed with happiness, as are the people of Bambilor, to have had the honor of welcoming you here. I join them in welcoming you home,” rejoiced Caliph Thierno Amadou Ba who added: “what gives me the most pleasure is the initiative of the mayor who has just told me that, during the Council , he will plead to elevate you to the rank of honorary citizen of Bambilor. This is an unspeakable honor for me, especially since the initiative comes from the mayor,” he said.
“You have come to an environment full of energy and what interests us here is humanism and the values which were advocated by our ancestors, our grandparents, our spiritual guides who set the milestone for stability which made it possible to be a crossroads of religious diplomacy. This can be demonstrated by the numerous crises that have been overcome recently before the elections. Everyone feared the worst but, fortunately, the prayers of our religious guides made it possible to regain stability. Your presence is an opportunity for us to thank you for your actions at Bambilor. And most of us didn’t know it until then. For example, the Bambilor justice house was financed entirely by the European Union and your visit allowed us to discover it as well as many other actions,” said Caliph Thierno Amadou Ba.
For his part, the local councilor praised the visit of the EU ambassador before wishing that the partnership between the NGO Fawzi Wana Diati led by the Khalifa and the EU would be lasting.
“This ceremony which brings us together today is, as you so well said, a prestigious ceremony which is important in more than one way given its meaning but also its high solemn significance. Because it is a framework for exchange, reflection but also dialogue since the conclusions of this dialogue will be beneficial for you, the European Union, for the African Union and why not for the United Nations. Thierno Amadou Ba, who initiated this meeting, has always been committed to promoting economic cohesion, social cohesion, territorial cohesion but above all solidarity. And these are the principles and values of the European injunction. This is why I would like to wish a lasting partnership to your two structures, NGO Fawzi Wana Diaty and the EU,” said Ndiagne Diop, mayor of Bambilor.
Speaking, the general secretary of the Christian community of Bambilor said he was happy to return to the Caliph where he always feels at home.
“We are at home here and we feel at home. The Caliph has a doctorate in religious diplomacy, which means that today, many researchers are looking into his methodology in matters of religious diplomacy. And we thank him for that and everyone knows that it is through his actions that he is restoring certain disparities. We are very happy dear Khalife to come back here to our home. And again through your religious diplomacy, today you have presented the commune of Bambilor as a city where there is much to do. Those who are there have already undertaken a lot of what we have visited and we encourage everyone for the efforts made to carry out all these projects and it is extraordinary. This is why I would also like to congratulate the women and young people who run these projects. And we tell his Excellency Mr. Ambassador that the harvest is good and abundant although there is still work to do. This is why we are counting on your collaboration with the municipality so that our municipality can shine,” said Eugène Allela Badji, the representative of the Christian community of Bambilor.
It should be noted that the delegation visited the Bambilor health post, the two fruit and vegetable processing centers, the Bambilor youth center, the Bambilor justice center and the Bambilor market.
