The head of European diplomacy wants fewer weapons to be sold to Israel

At a press conference on Monday in Brussels, the head of European diplomacy suggested that arms sales to Israel should be re-examined, in the context of the massive strikes in the Gaza Strip.

“If we consider that too many people are being killed in Gaza, perhaps we should provide fewer weapons to prevent fewer victims? Isn’t that logical?” suggested Josep Borrell. A message directly addressed to Washington and its allies.

Israel was quick to react through its Foreign Minister. “Mr. Borrell, you are not listening to anyone. Israel strictly adheres to the international laws of war, ensuring the safe movement of civilians in Gaza. Calls to limit Israel’s defense will only strengthen Hamas. Rest assured that Israel is determined in its mission to dismantle Hamas,” Israel Katz wrote on X.

The US Senate on Tuesday approved $95 billion in aid to Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan. Of this sum, more than 14 billion dollars will be devoted to assistance for the defense of the Jewish state alone. The day before, another bell was heard in the countries, with justice calling on the government to stop exporting parts of F-35 aircraft, used for strikes in Gaza, to Israel, under the pretext the risk that these devices may be used to commit violations of international law.
