Condemnation of the “transfer” of North Korean weapons to Russia

The United States, the EU and nearly 50 countries on Tuesday accused North Korea, which is subject to international sanctions for its military and nuclear activities, of delivering missiles to Russia. They demanded an immediate end to this cooperation.

Last week, the American government denounced these deliveries of missiles used, according to it, by Russia in its recent large-scale attacks on Ukraine.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, European Union (EU) foreign minister Josep Borrell and 47 foreign ministers condemned North Korean support for Russia in ‘the strongest possible terms’.

According to them, the delivery of missiles constitutes a ‘flagrant’ violation of sanctions imposed on North Korea by the UN Security Council.

“We are closely monitoring what Russia provides to North Korea in exchange for these weapons,” the signatories added, calling on both countries to respect UN resolutions.
