For the first time in its history, Morocco will be represented at the Venice Biennale, on the occasion of the 60th edition scheduled from April 20 to November 24, 2024. The information will be “officialized in the coming days with the appointment of the commissioners in charge of the national pavilion of Morocco”, announced this Thursday, July 20, 2023 the specialized magazine Dyptik citing a source within the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication.
According to the same source quoted by Dyptik, “it was decided after a scouting trip to Venice by the ministry teams, that the Kingdom pavilion be installed at the entrance to the Arsenale, not far from the Giardini where the nations historically represented (Italy, France, Germany, Brazil, United States, etc.) have their permanent pavilion.”
The magazine explains that this will be Morocco’s first participation with a national pavilion, after several participations in off or in collateral events, specifying that the Minister of Culture Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid and his teams have carried out this project for a year, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the direction of the Biennale in Italy and the diplomacy of the two countries.
