The European Commission hopes to announce a new package of sanctions against Russia on Wednesday, which should put an end to Russian diamond exports to the EU, the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell announced on Monday.
Russian attacks killed three people on Monday and injured twelve including a two-month-old baby in Kherson, a large city in southern Ukraine, local authorities announced.
The country celebrated on Saturday the first anniversary of the liberation of Kherson by its army, which ended eight months of Russian occupation. But Moscow’s army remains close by. Only the Dnieper River separates them from the city, which is bombarded almost daily.

Ukraine has received significant air defense systems from its Western allies, including US-made Patriots. “Unfortunately, (the air shield) does not yet fully protect the entire territory. We are striving to improve it further,” added the Ukrainian president, calling on the international community to echo this call.
