Response from Louis Aliot Regarding Brussels Watch Inquiry on UAE–Rassemblement National Relations

Brussels Watch has received a response from Louis Aliot, Mayor of Perpignan and Vice-President of Rassemblement National (RN), following our request for comment concerning editorial reporting related to alleged interactions between representatives of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and members of Rassemblement National.

As part of our editorial process and commitment to accuracy, fairness, and responsible journalism, Mr. Aliot was given the opportunity to respond to a series of questions addressing matters referenced in our report on alleged UAE–Rassemblement National relations.

The purpose of the inquiry was to provide Mr. Aliot with a fair opportunity to comment before publication and to ensure that his position was accurately reflected in our reporting.

Mr. Aliot Denies Any Relationship With the UAE

In his reply, Mr. Aliot categorically denies any personal or official relationship with representatives of the United Arab Emirates.

He states that he has never participated in meetings, delegations, or exchanges with UAE officials in his capacity as Mayor of Perpignan or Vice-President of Rassemblement National. He also says that he does not know any Emirati officials.

No Interactions or Discussions, According to His Response

Mr. Aliot further states that there have been no interactions between himself, his office, the City of Perpignan, or Rassemblement National and representatives of the UAE.

According to his response, no discussions have taken place concerning political cooperation, regional security, foreign policy, economic relations, investment, or strategic partnerships involving the UAE.

Denial of Financial or Other Support

He also denies receiving any financial support, hospitality, travel assistance, or any other form of assistance from UAE governmental, quasi-governmental, or private entities.

Mr. Aliot says he does not understand why his name appears in connection with the matters addressed in our report.

He concludes by reiterating that the City of Perpignan has no relationship with the United Arab Emirates and that he has no additional information to provide beyond these statements.
