The head of diplomacy meets South Korean businessmen in New York

Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul went to New York on Saturday (US time) to meet representatives of South Korean companies and promised them the government’s support for their overseas development, reported this Sunday his ministry. The meeting took place in the Big Apple after Cho attended the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The minister stressed the importance of government and the private sector working hand in hand in an era where there are no longer boundaries between economic and national security issues. He also pledged to spare no effort to minimize the negative impact of the rapidly changing external environment on South Korean companies and support their overseas expansion and exports.

Senior executives from companies and institutions, including Samsung Electronics, Samsung C&T, LG Electronics, Korean Air, CJ, Bank of Korea and Korea Development Bank, were present at the session. Cho plans to share their concerns during his meetings with members of the US government and Congress during his visit to Washington starting tomorrow, his ministry added.
