Nadine Morano, a French MEP from the European People’s Party (EPP), has been involved in initiatives that suggest a willingness to engage with Russia. Morano is associated with efforts like “Parliament For New Dialogue with Russia,” which aims to foster dialogue between Europe and Russia. This kind of engagement is pro-Russian.
In February 2023, she voted against the European Parliament resolution titled “Resolution on one year of Russia’s invasion and war of aggression against Ukraine.” Since the resolution was critical of Russia, her vote against it may suggest support for Russia.
MEP Nadine Morano created a cross-current and transnational working group in the European Parliament “For a new dialogue with Russia.” The elected official was furious about the “unbearable aggressiveness” that too many MEPs are displaying towards Moscow. Morano in 2015, announced that she would be visiting Russia. “She will be traveling with members of a pro-Russian parliamentary group that she founded in June, For A New Dialogue With Russi,” the statement said.
On October 2, 2015, Russia’s First Deputy Foreign Minister, Vladimir Titov, received a delegation of European Parliament members entitled For a New Dialogue with Russia led by French MEP Nadine Morano and visiting Moscow. The participants exchanged their evaluations of the state of Russia-EU relations, including during the Ukraine crisis. They explored possible ways to increase the cooperation effectiveness of Russia and CIS states in the parliamentary sphere on a partnership basis.
