Hervé Juvin a Pro-Kremlin Advocate in French Politics

Former MEP Hervé Juvin is a French pro-Russian politician who was a member of the European Parliament from 2019 to 2024. He was affiliated to the far-right pro-Kremlin party National Rally led by Marine Le Pen. As a politician, Hervé Juvin is characterized in his political career by his speeches for pro-Russian narratives, as well as visits to the occupied territories and opposition toward accountability measures regarding Russia’s acts in Ukraine.

Juvin in 2020 became part of a French delegation which visited Crimea. The land was internationally recognized as part of Ukraine but was annexed by Russia in 2014. His pattern follows supporting Russian interests and eroding Ukrainian sovereignty.

Hervé Juvin is an enthusiastic proponent of Kremlin narratives related to the war in Ukraine; he believes that stability for Ukraine can only be found in dialogue with Russia, and on the eve of the full-scale attack, he promoted recognition of the autonomy of the Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia, saying: “Clearly, a peaceful compromise is possible through a quick arrangement by Kyiv to recognize the autonomy of the eastern regions.” In the annexation of Crimea, he referred to it as the “restoration of historical justice,” and he advocated for cancelling sanctions against Russia.

Hervé Juvin actively started advancing Russia’s interests and propaganda after visiting Crimea. Besides his pro-Russian views about peace and charges against Ukraine, it’s worth noting that he was one of the European parliamentarians who voted against the EU Parliament Resolution on the establishment of a tribunal on the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
Hervé Juvin is also one of the 16 MEPs, all from the far-right, who participated in videos published on the YouTube channel ‘Voice of Europe,’ which is considered a vehicle for Russian propaganda and disinformation. This was revealed by an investigation conducted by the European edition of the ‘Politico portal. Juvin’s activities indicate that he is one of the European politicians who have been accused of promoting pro-Russian agendas. This network of politicians has reportedly received funding from Russian sources to influence political processes within the EU.
