Matthias Moosdorf is a German politician. In September 2016, Moosdorf joined the pro-Kremlin Alternative for Germany party. She belongs to Saxony and has been serving as an MP in the Bundestag since 2021. In particular, since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he has expressed pro-Russian positions as a member of the inner-party working group “Foreign Countries” (Ausland). It has been revealed that Matthias Moosdorf, who recently became the AfD’s foreign policy spokesman in the Bundestag, was discovered to be teaching music at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in Moscow, a school with powerful Kremlin ties.
He arranged a “peace concert” in the Bundestag when the AfD parliamentary group presented a so-called “peace initiative” in the Bundestag at the start of February, which was abandoned by the overwhelming majority of MPs because it catered to Russian interests. Moosdorf accuses the West and especially the USA of the war.
In May 2023, he journeyed to an economic forum in St Petersburg, the Russian president’s home town. The Russian regime exploited the visit of these Western backers to demonstrate to its population that Russia was not isolated, and Russian media briefed on the AfD MP’s visit.
Moosdorf reiterated Russia’s claims of holding a right to Central and Eastern Europe states, denouncing NATO’s protection of the Baltic states:
“There will be [no peace] without correcting the errors made with NATO’s expansion to the exclusion of Russia.”
She also warned the NATO Nations against disarraying with Russia, as it threatens to end up like Adolf Hitler. His comments came as he addressed the Bundestag Parliament Committee before a vote on dispatching more German weapons to Ukraine to assist it in fighting Russia. He expressed nations gambling on military force against Russia are bound to mourn a defeat.
