The ambition was, says Mr. Panzeri, that Marc Tarabella received at the end of the legislature, in 2024, a total of 250,000 euros. Tarabella’s lawyer, Maxim Toller, has vehemently denied these accusations, asserting that his client neither received money nor accepted gifts in connection with the case.
He was also allegedly paid €20,000 by a Qatari lobbyist in 2019. He is also accused of helping to arrange meetings between Qatari officials and European politicians.
Suspension and Fallout:
Tarabella’s involvement in the Qatargate scandal led to several repercussions. He has been suspended from the Belgian socialist party and the Socialist and Democrat MEP grouping in the European Parliament. Furthermore, his membership in the EP Beer Club was also suspended.
