Radek Vondráček is a Czech lawyer and politician. He has performed as President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic since November 2017. He formerly operated as First Deputy President of the Chamber of Deputies from January 2017 to October 2017. He belongs to ANO, which is considered a pro-Russian Party.
Radek Vondráček, head of the lower chamber of the Czech parliament, is considered the person most promoting collaboration with Russia inside ANO. He condemns Russia’s international isolation and in October 2017, during a visit to Russia, he assembled with politicians sanctioned by the EU.
In 2018, Czech Pirate Party head Ivan Bartoš and Prime Minister Andrej Babiš of ANO clashed over a journey to Russia by ANO’s lower house speaker, Radek Vondráček. Mr Bartoš stated that information was lacking about the trip as no Czech reporters had been invited to take part. While in Moscow Mr. Vondráček assembled with two local politicians who are on EU and US sanctions lists. The lower house speaker led the first official visit to Russia by Czech MPs in a decade.
Radek Vondráček, on his first visit to Moscow, expressed to Viacheslav Volodin the greetings of the President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman, citing the constructive and good relations between the two heads of state.
He also emphasised that it is necessary, “based on our spiritual and linguistic affinities, culture and history, to do everything to have good working relations between the parliaments, built on the principles of mutual respect, trust, absence of double standards and non-interference in the affairs of sovereign states.” ”These are the principles of our country’s policy when we build relations with other States,“ stated the Chairman of the State Duma and reported that the State Duma is developing relations ”with a broad range of European countries.“
He also voiced gratitude to his Czech colleague for the fact that the Russian language is widely learned in the Czech Republic, it is taught in 220 schools and 43 universities.
