As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the fighting remained highly active across the front line, with 249 combat clashes recorded in one day. The same report said Russia launched its heaviest attacks on the Pokrovsk, Huliaipole and Sloviansk fronts. It also said Ukrainian Air Force, Rocket Forces and Artillery units struck five clusters of Russian personnel, two artillery systems and four command posts over the past day.

Russian losses

According to the Ukrainian General Staff update published by Ukraine Pravda, Russia lost about 1,230 soldiers killed and wounded over the past day, bringing its claimed total personnel losses to 1,402,200 since 24 February 2022. The same update said Russian losses also included 12,066 tanks, 24,845 armoured combat vehicles and 44,969 artillery systems. It further listed 379,224 operational-tactical drones, 4,797 cruise missiles, 113,612 vehicles and fuel tankers, and 4,366 special vehicles and other equipment among total losses.

Main fronts

On the North Slobozhanshchyna front and in Russia’s Kursk Oblast operational zone, the General Staff said there were three combat clashes and 86 strikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements, including six from multiple-launch rocket systems. On the South Slobozhanshchyna front, it said Russian forces carried out eight attacks near Starytsia and towards Izbytske, Karaichne and Vilcha. On the Kupiansk front, six Russian attacks were reported towards Podoly and Novoplatonivka, while the Lyman front saw 21 attempts to breach Ukrainian defences near Novomykhailivka, Novoselivka, Zarichne and Yampil.

Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka

The General Staff said Russian troops conducted 28 assaults on the Sloviansk front near Zakitne, Kalenyky and Riznykivka and towards Rai-Oleksandrivka and Kryva Luka. On the Kostiantynivka front, 15 attacks were reported near Kostiantynivka, Rusyn Yar, Illinivka and Pleshchiivka and towards Mykolaipillia. These fronts were among the most active sectors in the latest report.

Pokrovsk and Huliaipole

The Pokrovsk front remained one of the hardest-hit areas, with Ukraine saying its defenders stopped 33 Russian assault and offensive actions near several settlements, including Shakhove, Dorozhnie, Novooleksandrivka, Vasylivka, Rodynske, Kotlyne, Udachne and Filiia. The report also listed additional directions of attack towards Vilne, Bilytske, Novyi Donbas, Biliakivka, Kucheriv Yar, Serhiivka, Shevchenko and Muravka. On the Huliaipole front, Russian forces were said to have carried out 30 attacks near Dobropillia and Zaliznychne and towards Vozdvyzhivka, Hirke, Novoselivka, Tsvitkove and Charivne.

Oleksandrivka sector

The Oleksandrivka front also saw continued combat, with Ukrainian defenders repelling six Russian attacks near Vorone, Ternove and Kalynivske and towards Verbove and Nove Zaporizhzhia. The General Staff’s statement suggested that pressure remained broad-based rather than confined to a single axis of attack.

Attribution and sourcing

As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the figures were published from its Facebook update with information as of 08:00 on 29 June. The Ukraine Pravda English report on the Russian personnel losses said the data were updated by Ukraine’s General Staff and that the information was still being confirmed. In line with journalistic attribution, the key operational details in this report are credited to those source statements rather than presented as independently verified battlefield facts.
