UNESCO Paris: Malian Delegation Rejects Schengen Visa – Update

For the 42nd General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Department of National Education, through decision 0001760 of August 10, 2023, drew up a list of 39 people to represent Mali, each of whom is responsible for applying for and obtaining a Schengen visa.

On arrival, the observation was that none of the members of the national delegation, apart from four people who had a long-term visa, was able to obtain the precious sesame. The French embassy, given the tension between our two countries, did not respond favorably to requests. Another European Union country, contacted by the applicants, rejected their quest. This means that travel to Europe for Malian officials is becoming more and more delicate.

Note that the 42nd General Conference of UNESCO takes place from November 7 to 22, 2023 in Paris, France.
